Youngblood Cosmetics is still a very new brand to Ireland but its popularity is growing each day. I first heard about it from Tracy aka The Make-Up Mentor and she had amazing things to say about the brand so I decided to read into the brand a little further.
Here’s what I found :
‘Youngblood is the premier luxury mineral cosmetics line made of natural, finely ground minerals from the earth — without any of the common irritants, including chemicals, dyes and preservatives. Created by former medical aesthetician, Pauline Youngblood, many of their products contain the signature mineral blend of Malachite, Rhodolite, Hematite and Zincite to help protect cells and tissue.
From the first moment you brush on the loose Natural Mineral Foundation, you’ll notice an incredibly silky feel and polished, fresh-faced finish. Their lightweight foundations contain a natural sun protectant, and look virtually undetectable while providing flawless, buildable coverage. Youngblood never appears glittery; instead, skin radiates a natural, healthy glow!
Youngblood is gentle to all skin types and conditions, including skin recovering from laser or chemical peels, or experiencing rosacea, acne or discoloration.
The products are free of talc, parabens, oil and fragrance, and have earned numerous awards including “Best Foundation” (Beauty Launchpad) and “Best Mineral Blush” (NewBeauty).
Youngblood cosmetics are used by professional makeup artists, celebrities including Jessica Alba & Beyonce and customers alike for their comprehensive assortment of natural-looking shades that are easy to use, long-lasting and able to stand up to heat, humidity and perspiration.’
Around the time that I came across Youngblood, I was in the process of planning my ‘Ultimate Ladies Night Out’ event.
When I read what the brand was about and read up about their products, I thought they would be the perfect brand to showcase their products at my event. I really loved what Youngblood was all about and believe that my readers will to, because their products are suited to such a huge range of women.
I decided to get in touch with Youngblood Cosmetics Ireland and see if they would like to play a part in NeedsnotWants ‘Ultimate Ladies Night Out’ event. We arranged a meeting, and went through the details and that was that, I was thrilled to have this brand on board for the event. During our meeting, they advised that they wanted to send me out some of their products to try for myself to see what I thought, and that brings me to this review….
Liquid Mineral Foundation
It claims : Say goodbye to dry!
The good thing about this foundation is it’s a Skin Care Product and Foundation all in one. It contains ocean mineral’s which are rich in antioxidants that soothe, protect and repair your skin all day, with the foundation minimising pores and it leaves your skin feeling fresh and dewy for the day.
I decided to try this foundation out without using any product on my skin before applying (No Moisturiser, No Primer) as it claims to be a skin care product and foundation all in one.
As directed I applied one pump to the back of my hand and began to apply to my face, as always starting on my cheeks and applying in upward strokes.
By the time I had done my cheeks and chin area I needed some more product for my forehead so used another pump. Being a user of Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, I instantly noticed the difference in coverage, so found myself building the coverage on this one, although not necessarily needed, it just felt so light on my face I didn’t think I had enough on. Something that I am sure I will get used to. I would say the coverage for this foundation would be light to medium.
Another thing I noticed straight away was there is virtually no smell from the liquid. Not good, and not bad, just non-existent.
I wanted to use this foundation a few times before writing my review because our skin can be different on different days. I have been using it for the last week and have to say I really like it. The consistency of the foundation is quite light compared to what I am used to. It just glides onto your skin and feels quite refreshing, which is nice.
I would have Normal to Dry Skin and from what I have read this is the best foundation from their range for my skin type, however, they do have other foundations that suit each skin type.
It is available in a range of shades :
Light : Pebble, Sand, Shell
Meduim : Golden Tan, Sunkissed
Tan : Carribean, Suntan, Tahiatian Sun
Dark : Barbados
I applied it using a flat foundation brush and loved the finish. I leaves the skin looking and feeling dewy without being shiney. Although it is light to medium coverage, it leaves the skin looking flawless, however, I still required the use of my beloved Physicians Formula BB concealer (full review coming soon) for under the eyes.
I always like to set my foundations with a powder, however I do think with this one it wouldn’t be necessary as it has a lovely finish to it, it’s just my personal preference to set it, and probably habit! I set this with the Youngblood Pressed Powder, which is also amazing!
What I really loved about this is that its super long lasting and I didn’t need to touch it throughout the day. I applied it on each of the days in the morning and didn’t take it off until going to bed that night and it still looked as it had just been applied.
Towards the end of the day in the last few days of using it, I noticed I had very dry areas on my face. As a sufferer of Psriosis, I get little outbreaks of it from time to time, and always get a couple of patches in between and above my brow areas, and on these areas after a while the foundation looked very dry, however, that is down to my skin and not necessarily the product.
Here’s how it looked once applied…
Overall I am loving this foundation and finally found one to use for my daywear instead of always using Double Wear!!
