So we’re finally starting to see some spring weather come through, well if you can ignore the rain over the last couple of days. I love when you start to see the shift in seasons, I get excited as I start thinking about changing my wardrobe for the months ahead.
One of my favorite things about clothes and fashion is piecing together outfits. Just one new addition to your wardrobe, can give new life to items that had been passed to the side. I look forward to getting ready for the day ahead, when I have a new outfit planned.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve made a few new purchases and have started to think how they’ll fit in with the rest of my clothes. I always find this is the best time to do a good clear out of clothes, be it packing away till next season or getting rid of things.
See my post here about getting your wardrobe new season ready. If you are thinking of doing a clear out, did you know H&M will give you a €5 voucher to use in store if you drop in a bag of unwanted clothes? A little something towards a new outfit!
As some of you may know, I’m a Mum to a baby boy (he turns one this month) and I’ve noticed that since becoming a Mum, my style has started to change. I don’t have as much time to spend on myself, getting ready and need something that’s comfortable. However, I don’t want to lose my sense of style, I still like to dress well and honestly, it does make you feel better about yourself. When pulling clothes together at the weekend I always grab for a basic top, skinny jeans and comfy shoes.
With the above in mind, all of my recent purchases are about putting together some quick go to,chic, casual outfits that will look well running around with the little one, lunch with the girls or a rare date night.
So enough with the rambling, check out my purchases below and how I plan to work these key pieces together by adding the perfect accesories!
I wanted a jacket that was easy to throw on over loads of things, but not too light given our crazy weather. I think this jacket will look great dressed up above or a more toned down version below.
Jeans – River Island €55 Buy here
Pumps – Zara – bought last year but they always have similar
I’m loving the sports luxe style at the minute. I was never one for runners in the past, unless I was heading to the gym. It was only after I bought my first pair of converse that I started to love the edge they gave to an outfit.
I bought the red addidas recently and love them as a statement runner. I love the nautical theme in Spring, so these go perfectly.
My Nike Thea’s are still my absolute favourite. Probably the most worn shoe I’ve ever bought! They can be thrown on with anything and because they’re black, they don’t make the outfit too casual, which is why I love them.
Nike Thea’s – Nike store: €110 Buy here
Grey Nike Jumper – Bought similar in Kildare outlet store: €15
Bag – Penneys:€5
Necklace – A gift but similar available online.
I picked up a duster coat similar to the above, last year in H&M, for just €15. I haven’t had a chance to wear it till now. These light coats instantly dress up a simple outfit. I think they’re perfect for a night out too, over dress or even for a wedding. The weather in Ireland means you can’t get away with no coat, but there’s nothing worse than ruining a good outfit with a bad coat! This is why these are great. They’re everywhere at the minute and in so many colours and styles. A must for anyone!
A nice cami is another wardrobe staple. If you’re stuck for something to wear, you can never go wrong with a cami, jeans and a good pair of shoes.
So that’s my spring wardrobe. I’ve still a few more things to add, such as a few statement necklaces, as these help change up any outfit. I’ll be browsing Forever 21 and Ali express for these. With some good mixing and matching, I’m happy with the choices I’ve made. I’ll also be buying the odd trend piece from Penneys, as who can resist those bargains, but for me you can’t beat those basic staple pieces.
Let me know what’s you key must have for Spring!
