I tend to stick with what i know when it comes to Self Tan’s, however after doing some research into the St. Tropez range i decided there’s no better time to try out a new tan and really put it to the test than when i’m heading away on a weeks holiday in the sun! I’m not a lucky sallow skinned lady so i always have to rely of fake tan for any sort of colour.
St. Tropez launched a new bronzing mousse formula in 2014 and and review i read on it was amazing so i said i would give it a try!
What’s so special about this Express Bronzing Mousse is that the formula allows you to choose your depth of tan :Shower after 1 hour for a light tan, leave it on 2 hours before showering for a medium tan, or wait 3 hours before showering for a dark tan. I started my tanning routine the night before i actually applied the tan, and Prepped my skin using St.Tropez Tan Enhancing Body Polish (Read about my tan prep Here) The Express Bronzing Mousse is very easy to apply and i applied mine using the St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt. I never ever use my bare hands when applying self tan as it will stain your hands even if you wash them carefully after the application. It has a light golden brown colour straight away that allows you to see where its going or if you missed a spot during the application.
It doesn’t dry as quick as other tans self tans that i have used, and it still feels sticky for about 2 hours. This isn’t something that bothers me too much because i am very used to getting spray tans and a spray tan is the same.
The good news is that you can wash it off after 1, 2 or 3 hours so your skin is only sticky for a short period of time! However, i always sleep overnight with my tan on and wait until the morning to have my shower. It is however a bonus that you can apply it in the evening, rinse it off before going to bed so you don’t have to change your bed sheets the following day!
One thing i always look out for with a tan is how it smells after application. Some of them smell so strong and it doesn’t even disappear after showering. This tan has a slight biscuit scent after 2-3 hours, but it disappears completely after showering. The tan is even, natural-looking, and non-streaky!
It fades beautifully without looking patchy and last up to 10 days on me, with one top up 3 days after application. During this time I moisturised my skin daily. I also wore it on my face, it didn’t break me out and the tan lasted a bit longer than usual.
Below are images i took for my holiday look book, 7 days after application, and ask you can see it looks like it has just been applied.
It didn’t get patchy, blotchy, or come off mucky looking at all. In fact when i decided to have a full body scrub 10 days after application, it didn’t even look like i needed to remove it because it had faded so naturally. It doesn’t transfer onto clothes either and wares really well even when in and out of the swimming pool whilst on holidays.
My Verdict : This tan is a must. It’s so worth its price tag and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

No matter what your tanning preference is, be it a lotion, mousse, oil or gradual tan, St. Tropez has a shade and formula to suit everyone. Upon researching i came across their ‘In Shower Tan’ and this certainly got me excited. Applying your tan while showering??? Who wouldn’t want this!! They have an in shower tan that is in the trade for the last year and there is a new one just launching at the moment which is a darker shade, and since i love a deep & dark tan, i’m gonna wait to get my hands on the darker shade and give it a go. I’ll be sure to let you know what its like when i give it a go.
